GamesBids.com will be covering the entire Evaluation Commission visit from the scene in Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission arrived in Tokyo Friday to inspect the city’s bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

The commission is led by IOC Vice President and Committee Chair Sir Craig Reedie, and will be in Tokyo for four days of intensive presentations and site visits.

The meetings that begin Monday and run through to Thursday are considered a critical part of the overall evaluation process and the commission will create a detailed report for the overall IOC voting membership.

Tsunekazu Takeda, IOC member and President of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) and Tokyo 2020, called it “a tremendous honour to welcome the IOC Evaluation Commission Chair and his colleagues to Tokyo. For the next week we will go all out to demonstrate our winning formula for hosting the Games in 2020. We are fully prepared for this moment and now look forward to showing our guests everything that the amazing city of Tokyo has to offer”.

Tokyo Governor Naoki Inose greeted the IOC delegation upon their arrival at the host hotel.

The commission will visit Madrid and Istanbul, the two other 2020 Candidate Cities, later this month.
