Rome 2020 will be sticking to its original schedule to decide whether or not it will continue its bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
Rome Prime Minister Mario Monti said on Repubblica TV that the Italian Government does not anticipate any decision being made earlier than February 14. He said since the topic is so important, it didn’t seem right to give in advance a positive or negative answer.
It was reported earlier this week that Monti was travelling to the United States to meet with President Barack Obama and for that reason a decision on the bid would be made Friday.
The deadline for submitting the bid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) headquarters in Lausanne is February 15.
