2016 Bid News – Chicago, Madrid

Chicago 2016 announced Monday that Ogilvy Chicago is its Digital Agency of Record.

Ogilvy Chicago, which includes Ogilvy & Mather Advertising and the digital and one-to-one marketing expertise of OgilvyOne, will be the strategic partner in redeveloping Chicago 2016’s digital presence, said a media release.

Patrick G. Ryan, chairman and chief executive officer of Chicago 2016, said, “winning the privilege of hosting the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games requires the support and excitement of Chicagoans as well as people from all around the world. Ogilvy Chicago’s Olympic expertise and passion for the city are unquestionable. We look forward to working with them as we look to build our support locally, nationally, and globally through our digital presence”.

Meanwhile, the president of Real Madrid, one of the largest football clubs in the world, said the club fully supports Madrid’s bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Ramon Calderon said, “all people in Madrid dream about the Games. Real Madrid is behind the bid team every step of the way”.

He added, “there is no other city better equipped with its transport and accommodation infrastructures, as well having the real passion to host a successful Games”.

Madrid’s Mayor Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon said, “the support of such a high-profile club as Real Madrid is very important to us. Football is the most popular sport in Spain and we hope to build on this passion and make Spain a world class country for all sports”.
