The Swiss Olympic Committee will decide on July 8 if Zurich, Switzerland will bid for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
The decision will likely hinge on the outcome of the 2010 host city election on July 2nd. If the Games go to Salzburg it will be highly unlikely that the IOC would choose a European host three times in a row – Turin, Italy will be hosting the 2006 Games.
But Swiss Olympic Committee spokesman Daniel Steiner told the media “…we will have a good chance if the 2010 decision goes to Vancouver.”
Berne, Switzerland was bidding for the 2010 Games but withdrew from the race late last year after a negative referendum over funding.
