Zurich and Davos have submitted preliminary applications to the Swiss Olympic Association in their bids to become the Swiss candidate for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
The Swiss Olympic Committee is to make a decision by the end of March as to who will become the Swiss candidate for the 2014 Games.
Zurich’s application featured the mountain resorts in the neighbouring cantons of Graubunden, Schwyz, St. Gallen and Zug as venues should it become 2014 host city.
Davos would use the ski resorts of Flims/Laax, Lenzerheid, Klosters and Chur.
A recent newspaper poll showed that 70 per cent of respondents were in favour of a Swiss bid.
Also, about 70 percent wanted Davos to represent Switzerland for the 2014 Games and only 17 percent favoured Zurich.
