Madrid’s Mayor Alberto Ruiz Gallardon said that a series of world class events in Spain is acting like a training schedule for the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics.
Madrid has just hosted round three of the World Mountain Biking Championships in the Casa de Campo Park following the World Open Waters Swimming Championships in Barcelona, the Wheelchair World Basketball Championships, and the finals of European club basketball championships in Madrid.
The mountain bike championships were held at the site of the Olympic Park should Madrid host the 2016 Games. According to a press release Madrid would support the inclusion of mountain biking in the 2016 Games.
