Women’s 10K Run “Good For” Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Bid

Almost 13,000 women took part in Glasgow’s record 10K run Sunday raising nearly one million pounds for various charities and boosting Glasgow’s bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The event, the most successful women’s 10K staged by the city so far, proves to the world and to officials who will decide where the 2014 Commonwealth Games will be held, reports the Herald.

Liz Cameron, Lord Provost of Glasgow said, “the level of participation was inspiring and the success of the event can only be good for our Commonwealth Games bid. Glasgow has proved that it can organize large scale events, attract elite athletes from around the world to come and compete here, and also involve its ordinary citizens in great sporting events”.
