An agreement between Erenhot City, north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and the Avalon Power Corporation of Canada was signed in Beijing Wednesday. Under the agreement the Canadian company will provide clean energy resources for the 2008 Beijing Summer Games.
The Canadian company will invest $1.2 billion (U.S.) into the China Erenhot North America Wind Power Park which covers 200 square kilometres. The project is designed to generate more than one million kilowatts of electricity annually.
The two sides are still discussing a starting date for the project.
