The theme song for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games called “We Are Ready” was officially released Saturday morning with several artists from the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong, as well as more than 100 media organizations present at the song’s release.
Musicians Peter Kam and Keith Chan composed the song which was produced in a matter of days with the help and hard work of more than 200 people, said Wu Zugiang, President of the Chinese Musicians Union. He said the song reflects both the ever-growing excitement for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games as well as the importance of participation and the Olympic spirit.
Official copies of the song can be downloaded from the official website of the Beijing 2008 Summer Games or from China Mobile’s Wireless Music Chart. The “We Are Ready” music videos have begun airing across China.
More than 130 Chinese singers from the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong participated in the recording of the song and on August 8, as part of the scheduled activities for the one-year countdown celebration, the artists will gather at Tiananmen Square and perform the song together for the first time.
