Volkswagen Group has been awarded Tier One Partner status for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Volkswagen Group Rus will attain General Partner status in the Sochi 2014 Automotive category after a competitive tender process.
The agreement was signed Friday by Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of Sochi 2014, and the General Director of Volkswagen Group Rus, Dietmar Korzekwa.
As part of the agreement Volkswagen Group Rus will supply around 3,000 vehicles to Sochi 2014 for use during preparations of the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Sochi 2014 said it has now raised more than $750 million from sponsorships so far this year, despite the economic climate.
Volkswagen Group Rus becomes the sixth Tier one sponsor of the Sochi 2014 Games.
