Vaughan Could Get Soccer Venue

A 34-hectare park on Martin Grove Road in the city of Vaughan (just outside Toronto) is the site of one of six Olympic soccer venues, a proposed Olympic soccer field and stadium, should Toronto get the 2008 Olympic Games.

The city’s Mayor Lorna Jackson said Vaughan will invest 2.4 million in the project to build a soccer field to Olympic standards and it won’t cost the taxpayers a penny.

TO-Bid has budgeted up to $2 million to pay for the stadium, which will have 5,000 permanent and 15,000 temporary seats needed during the Games.
