Vancouver 2010 Update

John Furlong, Chief Executive Officer for Vancouver 2010, said thanks to government and corporate support the Vancouver 2010 organizing Committee now has 98 per cent of funds needed to stage the Games.

Canwest News Service reports construction is finished on athletic facilities, but the organizing committee is concerned there may not be enough hotel accommodation for the amount of visitors anticipated.

Furlong said, “we have the unique challenge of having far too many people wanting to come than we have accommodation for. We are now developing a strategy so that every head has a pillow in Vancouver”.

And the most sought-after tickets for the 2010 Games are for hockey, reports Canwest.

Furlong said, “when we put the tickets out there for the public we were astonished at the interest. We took 144,000 orders for 4,000 gold medal hockey tickets we had for sale”.
