Vancouver 2010 Unveils New Logo

Vancouver 2010 unveiled its new logo Friday at the Vancouver 2010 Bid Information Centre. The new Vancouver 2010 logo now incorporates the Olympic rings with its existing logo following official approval by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

There are two significant changes in the logo – the addition of the Olympic rings and the Candidate City text. The IOC will use this official logo on all of its international communications and the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation will use it as its primary logo.

John Furlong, president and chief operating officer of the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation said, “making the IOC short list and then receiving approval of our Candidate City logo is like winning another heat in this race. We’re hoping that on July 2, 2003 we’ll at last win the gold medal and get the chance to host the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic Winter Games here at home. In the meantime we’ll wear those Olympic rings on our logo with pride”.

The Vancouver 2010 Bid logo was created by Lanyon Phillips Communications, the bid’s agency of record and one of its corporate supporters.
