Vancouver 2010 Unveils Countdown Clock

David Emerson, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Pacific Gateway and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games; and John Furlong, Vancouver 2010 CEO, alongside Olympic and Paralympic athletes, unveiled Vancouver 2010’s Countdown Clock at a ceremony Wednesday in Canada’s capital city of Ottawa,

On Wednesday the illuminated clock showed that there were 737 days until the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Games. The clock will count down the days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining until the beginning of the Games on February 12, 2010.

According to a media release the clock features a timepiece provided by Omega, the Official Timekeeper of the 2010 Games.

Visitors and residents can view the clock located opposite Canada’s Parliament buildings in the window of the National Capital Commission Infocentre.

The Government of Canada, a major partner, has invested $578 million dollars in the 2010 Games.

The 2010 Winter Games Mascots – Miga, Quatchi and Sumi – made a special appearance at the event.
