VANOC and the CCES have worked together for more than two years to develop a anti-doping program with the primary objective of trying to prevent, deter and detect doping through a comprehensive approach which includes an extensive pre-Games education program aimed at both Canadian and international athletes. It also includes a pre-Games testing program.
CCES Board Chair Dr. Roger Jackson said, “this partnership will provide Canadian athletes and the international sport community with a tremendous level of confidence in the anti-doping program for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games”. He added, “the VANOC Anti-Doping Program will provide a model of excellence for future international sport organizing committees and other major games organizations”.
The program will be conducted under VANOC’s authority. The CCES, an independent, ISO certified (International Standards Organization) national anti-doping agency will provide VANOC with expertise and training as well as a range of other services.
