A Vancouver 2010 board member who requested anonymity told The Canadian Press that John Furlong, head of Vancouver’s successful bid for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, was voted CEO of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games organizing committee.
An official announcement will be made at a news conference later on Friday.
The decision was made during a telephone conference involving the 20 board members. Two names were presented to the board for consideration.
To be named CEO a candidate had to be endorsed by 75 per cent of the board of directors and three of the four levels of government on the board.
