Vancouver 2010 Countdown Clock To Be Unveiled

Three years before the start of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, the official Olympic Timekeeper Omega, and Vancouver 2010 will kick off a month of activities with the unveiling of a giant countdown clock at the Vancouver Art Gallery Monday February 12.

Special guests including Olympic and Paralympic athletes, Omega executive and other officials will attend the celebration, according to Vancouver 2010.

The clock will represent Canadian and West Coast themes and officials say it promises to become a signature landmark in Vancouver for the next three years and well beyond.

During February there will be a number of other public three-year countdown celebration events in Whistler, Richmond, Vancouver and West Vancouver.

On March 12 the Lighting Ceremony will be held to illuminate the Olympic and Paralympic flags that fly outside Vancouver City Hall.

Also on March 12 the countdown to the Paralympic Winter Games will be celebrated in Whistler with a countdown cake at the 2010 Information Centre culminating with an evening “Cultural Cabaret”.
