A United States Olympic Committee (USOC) executive and two technical experts are flying to Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco this week to point out flaws in their preliminary proposals, and the team will be in Chicago Wednesday morning.
USOC spokesman Darryl Seibel said Monday of the Chicago meeting, “it’s a roll-up-your-sleeves work session”.
The Chicago Tribune reports the USOC will walk each city through the technical analyses of their original plans, help them to start reshaping their bids, and explain what is required to fill out a domestic applicant questionnaire due in late September.
Bob Ctvrtlik, USOC vice president of international relations, said last month “we have to talk to Chicago about the two-stadium plan”. The Chicago Tribune says it is likely the city will have to scrap the idea of having Opening and Closing Ceremonies in two arenas – Soldier Field and an adjacent temporary stadium”.
