Senator John McCain has scheduled a full hearing before the Senate Commerce Committee Tuesday into the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) ethics controversy.
USA Today reports that among the witnesses expected are USOC President Marty Mankamyer, CEO Lloyd Ward, International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Anita DeFrantz and Patrick Rodgers, former staff liaison to the Ethics Oversight Committee.
The newspaper reports that Tuesday’s hearing is expected to explore the conflict-of-interest allegations against Ward and the USOC’s handling of the inquiry.
Another hearing will be scheduled to address the future, looking at a possible restructuring of the USOC.
The Commerce Committee has oversight jurisdiction for the USOC and held hearings on the Salt Lake City bribery scandal in 1999.
