Construction on the Aquatic Centre which would be used should Madrid host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, was started in November 2004, and is reported to be in a “very advanced state”. It will be finished in March 2007.
Ninety five per cent of the excavation has been completed and 2,950 pillars are in place. The frame will be assembled shortly.
Madrid 2012 has budgeted almost 137 million euros for the facility.
