Rep. Tom Lantos, a U. S. Congressman from California, plans to introduce a bill in the next two weeks opposing Beijing’s bid on human rights grounds.
He said he would campaign against China’s bid to host the 2008 Summer Games unless the government improves its record on human rights.
Jian Xiaoyu, a Beijing bid official said, “we hope the majority of U.S. Congress members can uphold the Olympic spirit and nto pass such resolutions.”
