U.S. 2012 Bid Cities To Be Briefed

The eight U.S. cities hoping to be selected to bid for the 2012 Summer Games, will be briefed by the U.S. Olympic Committee officials (USOC) Wednesday in Colorado Spring, Colo.

Dallas is one of the eight cities competing, and it’s president Richard Greene said he didn’t really expect any big surprises.

Also on Wednesday, the USOC will name the team that will visit the 2012 bid cities, starting in June. There will be between six and 10 members on the team and each visit is to last four days.

The other seven U.S. cities are Cincinnati, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Tampa and Washington-Baltimore.

The USOC has the right to cut the field from eight to four or five later this year or next spring, and the selection of the candidate is scheduled for October 2002, with the final selection being made in 2005.
