Associated Press reports that representatives of ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, ESPN and Turner Sports met with members of the International Olympic Committee on Monday and Tuesday to discuss network television agreements for Olympic Games beginning in 2010.
The meetings focussed on how negotiations for the TV deal would be scheduled and handled, and possibly packaged. Two television industry sources told The Associated Press that no offers were solicited at the meetings but negotiations could be held later this year and include deals for the 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 Games.
NBC paid US$3.5 billion for the 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008 Olympic Games and claim that they have made money on the past Games. The IOC generates a large portion of its total revenues from U.S. television network deals.
