Turkey is looking to make the country an important tourist destination by developing alternative tourism in addition to coastal tourism, and a bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games is a first step in that direction.
Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Attila Koc told a news conference Wednesday that Turkey has an extremely high potential for winter tourism.
The Minister plans to undertake planning in 15 present and 30 potential tourism centres, and increase the accommodation at those centres for a 2014 Winter bid.
