Turin To Provide 100 Extra Trains During 2006 Games

Turin’s State Railway System is now an official sponsor of the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games. An agreement was announced at a press conference Monday.

As an official sponsor it will supply railway transportation and services, and provide an additional 100 extra trains during the 2006 Games to accommodate about a million visitors to the Games.

In addition to the transportation services between Turin and its valleys, special connections are being planned with the International Airport of Milano Malpensa using the new high-speed, high-capacity Torin-Novara railway line.

During the Games spectators with tickets for sports events can take advantage of special offers if they buy their travel tickets through dedicated channels.

For all the Olympic personnel (athletes, delegates, media, sponsors) who have accreditation the trains trips between Turin and the valleys will be free from January 26 to March 26, 2006. The volunteers of “Noi2006” will also be able to travel free on regional railway lines.
