The sale of tickets for the Turin 2006 Olympic Games was suspended for three weeks from Friday to allow the seats to be assigned. About half a million tickets, or 50 per cent of those available, have been sold.
Turin 2006 can now start the “seat assignment” procedure under an International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved system similar to that of other major sporting events, which is designed to give the public the best possible availability at each venue.
The suspension only pertains to tickets sold to the Italian public, not to foreigners.
Ticket sales will resume September 27, the same day a national publicity campaign begins.
Meanwhile, Turin 2006 goes on the road to 40 fall festivals. Provincial Government President Antonio Saitta presented the exhibit, which was set up at Turin’s Palazzo Cisterna. It features photographs, designs and texts on large panels informing visitors about the infrastructure built to host the 2006 Games.
