The Gruppo Telecom Italia has signed a partnership agreement worth 55 million euro with the Turin 2006 organizing committee. The agreement makes Telecom Italia and Tim major sponsors of Turin 2006 and with their infrastructure, advanced technology, services, and the necessary technical aids, the two companies will guarantee all the aspects of telecommunications for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.
Both companies have set two objectives: to ensure the success at top levels of the Games in all its information aspects, and to place the Piemonte Region in a position where it can permanently and continuously provide innovative high-band services to handle other events in the future and promote activities that will lead to the economic and social growth of the area.
The construction of the infrastructure in the Olympic venues will build up the quality of communications and create synergies between telecommunications, inter-connections with TV and radio broadcasting and internet services for the media, and will supply high speed connections for television transmission to the rest of the world.
