Turin 2006 Hosts Paralympic Seminar

Twenty six National Paralympic Committees (NPC) arrived in Turin Tuesday to take part in the Chef de Mission seminar until April 8th – an encounter between Turin 2006 and the delegations of the countries that will be competing in the Turin 2006 Paralympic Games.

During the plenary sessions and the individual meetings the 60 delegates will be informed about the services set up for the athletes and their trainers and escorts, the Paralympic venues, the sports structures and accommodation facilities. The delegates will also have a chance to make suggestions and requests based on the needs of the athletes.

According to the program there are plans for a visit to sports plants in the city and the mountains, as well as meetings introducing the services provided to the NPC. The delegates will be informed about the rules and functions of the two Paralympic Villages in Turin and Sestriere, the accreditation procedures, transport, ticketing, telecommunications, safety measures, medical services, anti-doping controls and catering services.

The Turin 2006 Paralympic Winter Games takes place March 10 to 19, 2006. There are four competition venues in Turin, Pinerolo, Pragelato, and Sestriere for hockey, curling, cross-country and biathlon, and alpine skiing.

The 600 athletes arriving from 40 countries will be accommodated in the two Paralympic Villages in Turin and Sestriere.
