Turin 2006 Feasibility Studies Completed

All feasibility studies on projects for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympic Games have been completed.

Among those completed were the ski lift and artificial snow plants, whose plans were released last week.

Valentino Castellani, president of the TOROC said, “we are looking favourably at the possibility of shifting the Media Village to the structures of the Military Hospital of Torino. This new plan will be studied by the City of Torino and if accepted, the city administration will have to pass a resolution on the new localization of the facility”.

The Media Village would house about 1,200 journalists and other media personnel.

Castallani said, “as for the further 1,000 places that have to be guaranteed, we will examine, jointly with the City of Torino the proposals that we have received with the public procedure of show of interest”.

The preliminary project for the Olympic Village of Sardonecchia has also been completed. The centre will accommodate 700 athletes and staff, and when the Games are over it will be converted into a tourist reception centre.

Also, the preliminary project for the Freestyle track at Sauze d’Ouix has been completed.
