Although Tromsoe was chosen Norway’s candidate to bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, the Norwegian government did not agree to guarantee the financial aspect of the bid and did not recommend that Norway bid for the 2014 Games.
According to the Tromsoe 2014 Web site the bid committee has since delivered three documents supporting its bid to the government.
It’s expected a proposal will be put forward by a Parliamentary committee on the 19th of February and Parliament is to debate and make a decision on the matter at a session in mid-April.
Norway’s International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Gerhard Heiberg recently told GamesBids.com that because the Norwegian government did not agree to guarantee Tromsoe’s 2014 finances, Norway will probably not bid for the 2014 Games.
