Sunday marks the 1,000-day countdown to the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, which officially starts July 10, 2015. To mark the milestone Toronto 2015 has launched a special Games-related newspaper insert, giving residents of the Greater Golden Horseshoe region an overview of the Games from sports to venues, as well as an update on preparations for the Games.
Ian Troop, TO2015 Chief Executive Officer said, “at the 1,000-day mark, we’re exactly where we should be. We’re on time and on budget or under budget on our capital projects. We’re fanning out throughout the Greater Golden Horseshow talking up the opportunities that come with hosting this kind of once-in-a-lifetime event”.
In the past few weeks TO2015 has broken ground on the largest new sport facility being built for the Games – the Pan Am and Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House, announced the sports program and footprint for the Toronto 2015 Games, broken ground on the Markham Pan am and Parapan Am Aquatics, unveiled plans for the Hamilton Pan Am Soccer Stadium, announced the official host and domestic broadcaster, and selected its roster of corporate partners.
