It could be more than a two-way race between Beijing and Toronto for the 2008 Summer Games.
The Toronto Star quotes a Sports Illustrated article that asks the question, “Where will the Olympics be in 2008?” The article says that the Games are Beijing’s to lose because China did everything right this year, from cracking down on drug offenders to making athletes and officials more accessible to the press.
But, it says, “if something – more drug scandals, violent political protest – scuttles Beijing’s bid before next July’s IOC vote, look for Paris to win, with Toronto a sleeper”.
