Enric Truno, external evaluator of Andorra’s 2010 Olympic Winter bid, interviewed on Andorra 7 Radio’s Escolta l’Esport, said that Andorra must make a realistic bid, which requires the help of neighbouring countries to provide the infrastructure.
Truno said it might be better to wait for 2014 to prepare a more solid bid.
Truno added, “I want to propose this criterion because it seems to be reasonable. Whatever the project, sport or something else, you must make a feasibility study. We must see if the Games are possible in Andorra and if we want them. The deadline will arrive fast and it is possible that we have not enough time in order to prepare the required dossier”.
Truno said that a possible withdrawal will not compromise or affect the future. “I think that it is better to withdraw in a prudent way without having done an important error, than a crazy presence without taking into account the reality, which would put us in a negative position. Because with a real candidacy we would start with a handicap and we would have to suffer if we had done so in the past”.
Truno said, “from the start, we don’t have the land to locate all the installations and equipment. We need to start from our initial ideas and make all the installations and equipment. We need to start from our initial ideas and make hypotheses on the venues to see if we have the space and facilities which fulfill the requirements of the federations”.
