TO-2008 Launches Olympic Bid Flag Challenge

Toronto’s Olympic bid committee launched the Toronto 2008 Olympic Bid (TO-2008) Flag Challenge at a press conference Friday.

The flags of the 197 countries participating in the 2008 Olympic Games will be flown in Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square as a tribute to the Olympic spirit and as a symbol of Toronto’s cultural diversity and international character. Each flag will be sponsored by a corporate donation to the TO-2008 effort.

Students of Centennial Middle School in Georgetown, near Toronto, carried the flags of 50 nations along with Toronto city councillor Anne Johnston, John Bitove, CEO of Toronto’s bid committee, David Seibel, Country Managing Partner (Canada), Accenture, and members of Team 2008.
