Three Design Experts Join London’s 2012 Bid

London’s 2012 bid committee has announced that three leading authorities from the world of design have joined the panel to help choose the winning logo for London’s bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

They are Alice Rawsthorn, Design Museum Director; Richard Eisermann, Director – Design & Innovation at the Design Council; and Michael Johnson from Johnson Banks and President of D&AD.

The full judging panel, to be revealed later this month, will include sport figures as well as members of the general public.

Barbara Cassani, head of London’s 2012 bid said, “the design logo competition is representative of what the Olympic Games is about – participation, competition and fair play. We therefore wanted to ensure the judging panel line up is also representative of the Olympic values”.

More than 1100 entries have entered the competition. Those on the shortlist will have the chance to develop their ideas further, and then be judged by the panel.

The overall winner will be announced in November and will receive 10 thousand pounds.
