It’s not over until it’s over. Toronto Olympic bid supporters can take a deep breath. Toronto is considered to be in second place in the race to host the 2008 Summer Games, behind Beijing. But it’s not always the leader that wins the race.
Just last week South Africa was favoured to stage the 2006 World Cup in soccer but lost by 12-11 in favour of Germany. So there’s still hope for Toronto.
Although International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Juan Antonio Samaranch told the Toronto Star recently that he doesn’t favour Beijing, many IOC observers think he wants to see the Games go to China for the first time.
