The 2016 Summer Games May Still Come To The Bay Area

With San Francisco opting out of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, the Mercury News reports that Los Angeles officials said that they will consider using facilities at Stanford or San Jose State for preliminary soccer matches should they win the 2016 Games.

David Simon, president of the Los Angeles 2016 said, “we certainly could use an additional venue or two”. He said Stanford’s new 50,000-seat stadium would be the first choice because of its size. Spartan Stadium hosts 30,456.

The newspaper reports that L.A. officials have not yet discussed the options with anyone in the Bay Area since San Francisco dropped out of the bid.
