Survey Shows Most Russians Favour 2012 Bid

According to a survey nearly 90 per cent of all Russians are in favour of Moscow hosting the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

More than a third of the 1500 respondents in the survey appeared convinced that Moscow would be able to host the Games.

Russians said security was the biggest problem for Moscow hosting the Games but three quarters of those questioned believe the problem would be handled by 2012.

Next to security respondents said airports, hotels and chaotic conditions on Moscow roads are negative factors for the bid.

Following the 1980 Moscow Games there are several sports facilities still standing, but most need some form of renovation.
