Following a two-day evaluation visit of Stuttgart, Dieter Graf Landsberg-Velen, chairman of the German Olympic Committee’s evaluation commission, said holding the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in Stuttgart would be “feasible”.
The evaluation team spent two days in Stuttgart inspecting Stuttgart’s bid and said the high competence of the bid made an “outstanding impression” on the group, as did the centrally located Olympic park venue and the proximity of the sports facilities and the Olympic Village to the Stuttgart town centre.
Stuttgart Mayor Dr. Wolfgang Schuster and Raimund Grundler, managing director of the bid, were pleased with the German Olympic Committee’s inspection. Schuster said, “we had very good and constructional discussions. Stuttgart can realize lasting and fascinating Olympic (Games) and carry the Olympic idea on a long-term basis”.
Grundler added that Stuttgart 2012 now had a “clear goal”.
