St. Paul, Minneapolis To Consider 2016 Summer Olympic Bid

A group has been formed to look into a bid by the twin cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Rob Jacobs, the founder of “Starting Line Foundation” told the local media, “we had a meeting, and we talked about some ideas. We are really not ready to talk to the press yet. There are some exciting things happening, but it’s premature to talk about them at this time”.

A report says that boosters have talked to St. Paul’s Mayor Randy Kelly, who hosted an Olympic 2016 Development Team meeting in March.

There are perennial efforts for a new football stadium for the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Vikings as well as a new ballpark for the Minnesota Twins – either of which could host one of the 28 Olympic sports, according to reports.

And if golf becomes as official Olympic sport, the twin cities already have several premier courses.
