Christos Tzekos, the former coach of Greek sprinters Kostas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou, said he and the sprinters had no case to answer. The sprinters were handed provisional bans by the IAAF Wednesday for missing doping tests and Tzekos also got a provisional suspension.
Tzekos said, “the IAAF’s decision means nothing. We’ll present our arguments to (Greek Federation) SEGAS. We’re innocent”.
The athletics’ ruling body said it was unhappy with Kenteris and Thanou’s response to charges that they had failed to show up for drug tests before the Athens 2004 Games.
The trio must now front a SEGAS tribunal with a final right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
