Sports Associations Support Leipzig’s New Concept

Following a meeting between the supervisory board of Leipzig 2012 and German sports association, the sports associations announced their support for Leipzig’s new compact plan in its bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

Also, representatives of the groups added their own ideas to the plan.

Ulrich Strombach, President of the handball association, lauded the work of Leipzig 2012. He said that following the German Olympic Committee’s decision to make Leipzig the 2012 candidate, the bid had several weak points, but this has changed with the new concept. He said from an economic point of view, the concept is very good.

The bid committee plans to work closely with the sports associations until a host city is announced. The associations plan to submit more ideas to Leipzig 2012 by the end of September.
