The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) selected Incheon South Korea Tuesday over New Delhi to host the 2014 Asian Games.
OCA head Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahd al-Sabah did not announce how many votes Incheon received among the 45 member countries saying the AOC does not give out figures, reports Reuters.
Incheon will be the third Korean city to host the Games following Seoul in 1986 and Busan in 2002.
PyeongChang South Korea is bidding to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games and it’s uncertain how Incheon’s success will affect its bid.
The Korea Times reports some say two straight successes by Incheon and Daegu to host international sports events might reduce PyeongChang’s chance for the 2014 Games. Last month Daegu won the 2011 World Athletics Championships.
An official of the PyeongChang 2014 bid committee said, “the Olympics and the Asian Games are totally different events and we don’t think it will affect our bid”.
