South Korea Completes Successful Dream Program

When Pyeongchang lost the 2010 Winter Games to Vancouver, South Korea promised the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that it would initiate a winter sports program for 108 participants from 22 countries in Asia, Africa, South America and Europe where there is a lack of snow and no winter sports.

The program, organized by the Gangwon International Sports Committee, was successfully completed Friday.

According to a South Korean press release the Dream Program is in full accordance with the spirit of the Olympic Movement. The Gangwon International Sports Committee plans to continue the program until 2010 and enlarge the scale of operations and the number of participants.

IOC President Jacques Rogge sent a message praising the efforts of Gangwon province and on behalf of the IOC he thanked the countries that participated.
