After being dropped from the Olympics last month it’s now more doubtful that the sport will make a comeback following its removal from the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) decided to drop softball, roller hockey and racquetball.
Slalom canoe was also dropped while squash, karate, bowling, futsal, water skiing and individual roller sport joined 28 Olympic sports on the Pan Am program.
A U.S. delegation attended PASO’s meeting in Rio to lobby International Olympic Committee members for softball’s return after it was voted out at a Singapore IOC meeting in July by a single vote on a 52-52 deadlock.
