Sochi 2014 To Use Moscow Experience For Winter Games

Sochi 2014 has signed an agreement with the mayor of Moscow that will ensure Sochi 2014 uses Moscow’s experience in staging major sports events while preparing to host the Sochi 2014 Winter Games. According to the agreement, Sochi 2014 staff and volunteers will be involved in delivering major national and international winter sports events taking place in Moscow in the coming years. Sochi 2014 will also involve Moscow-based events, with special experience in working on major sporting events, and on the training programs that will be run during the Vancouver 2010 Games.

According to a press release Sochi 2014 staff will use their experiences gained in Moscow to prepare for the Winter Games by using the knowledge of international best practice.

During high profile Moscow events, equipment, software and other technical resources will be tested to ensure that they are guaranteed to perform to the highest possible levels in Sochi 2014.

Moscow’s government is also contributing to the preparation of personnel who will work during the Sochi Games. It will include administrative and technical personnel who have experience in working at sports venues across the city.

Dmitry Chernyshenko, President and CEO of Sochi 2014 said, “this partnership provides Sochi 2014 with an opportunity to test products that will be used during Russia’s first Winter Games and lays the foundations to make any necessary corrections required”.
