The Sochi 2014 bid team was in Dublin last weekend to attend the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee, led by its new Chief Executive Officer Dmitry Chernyshenko, and Elena Anikina, Chairman of the Sochi 2014 Board.
Chernyshenko said following the meeting, “we have had a very good trip. Having just joined the Sochi 2014 team it was wonderful to be able so quickly to meet with other applicant cities and renew friendships with members of the Olympic Family. People were very positive about our bid and were genuinely interested to hear about the unique sun, sea, sand and snow experience that Sochi offers the Olympic Movement”.
Chernyshenko told the meeting that Sochi’s bid was so far advanced that it was now in the process of translating the Questionnaire into French and English. “We look forward to submitting it to the International Olympic Committee on 1 February and then eagerly awaiting their evaluation of it.”
