Sochi 2014 is conducting an ongoing program to be run by Olympic Champion Svetlana Zhurova asking former and current Olympians and Paralympians for ideas on how to develop a “dream” Olympic Village should the city host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
Sochi wants to create the “best Olympic Village ever” and has already contacted 18 Olympic and Paralympic athletes over the last few months to get their input on what makes a good Olympic Village. They asked questions about convenience, accessibility and comfort. The program delves into what matters most for athletes focusing on small details such as room temperature that often get overlooked in planning for the Games.
The athletes are being questioned on topics ranging from transportation and accommodation to bed linens and entertainment.
Sochi’s Olympic Village will be located in the Imeretinskaya Valley, along the Black Sea coast near Sochi airport and the mountain venues in Krasnaya Polyana. Once the Games are over the Village will be converted into a seaside resort.
