Sochi 2014 House at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games will be located at an “iconic city landmark” – Science World, said a Sochi 2014 press release.
The site is in the immediate vicinity of the Olympic Village and two major 2010 Winter Games venues, BC Place where the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held, and Canada Hockey Place, the venue for ice hockey.
Science World will be transformed into the official Sochi 2014 presentation, hospitality, and meeting facility during the Games.
Sochi 2014 said it will now work closely with the Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the City of Vancouver to ensure that the facility operates to the highest standards and fulfills the necessary transportation, security and other requirements.
Sochi 2014 President and CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko said, “with the 2010 Winter Games less than a year away the spotlight is on Vancouver. Sochi 2014’s presence will provide an important opportunity for athletes, members of the Olympic Family, and international media to see our innovative plans for themselves. We are honoured to secure Science World’s unique facility and will work towards making it a great success and an engaging experience for all Olympic Games’ guests and the place to be in Vancouver”.
