The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games was the focus of day two at the Sixth Annual International Investment Forum taking place in Sochi with a plenary session entitled “2014 Winter Olympic Games” which was devoted mainly to new investment projects in the city.
Aleksandr Zhukov, acting Deputy Prime Minister said, “today we are introducing one of the most attractive and complex investment projects in Russia – the construction of Olympic venues. The project includes infrastructure linked to roads, energy supplies, hotels and railways. And of course15 modern sport venues which will probably be among the best sports venues in the world”.
Leonid Tyagachyov, head of Russia’s Olympic Committee, said Saturday that Russia is “ahead of preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Russian resort of Sochi in terms of organization. The composition of the organizing committee for the Winter Olympics of 2014 will be approved within the next few days, or to be more specific, after the composition of the new government of the country is approved”.
Tyagachyov added that on September 26 International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge is arriving in Moscow “and on September 27 we will be in Sochi where Rogge will be shown our plan of work”.
Meanwhile acting Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref said that investors have been secured for the construction of all objects of infrastructure that had been included in the Sochi 2014 bid.
